Sport for All
Pursuant to art. 1 of the act of January 18,
1996 on physical fitness, citizens irrespective of age, gender,
religion, race, degree and type of disability have equal rights to
participate in various forms of physical activity.
The Sport for All Departmentis
(DSP) an organisational unit of the Ministry of Sport and its main goal
is to popularise sports activity in the community. The tasks of DSP
include the specification of priorities and objectives in the scope of
the people’s participation in systematic physical activity and
cooperation with the relevant minister and pedagogic supervision organs
in the scope of physical education and popularising of sport in the
schools.
Acting in agreement and cooperation with the regional
self-government units and with the non-government organisations, DSP
supports the development of various sporting, recreational and similar
activities and events.
The main task of DSP is to commission state tasks to non-government
organisations on behalf of the Minister that are financed from budget
funds and from non-budget funds (Physical Fitness Development Fund and
the Fund for Sports and Recreation Activity for Pupils) administered by
the Minister of Sport.
Budget funds cover tasks related to the popularising of physical
fitness and sport in rural areas, academic circles, in the family and
in different professions and communities as well as to promote physical
activity in obesity prevention.
The Physical Fitness Development Fund subsidises tasks related to
the development of sport among children and youth and, in particular,
to the purchase and distribution of sporting equipment, training of
teachers, instructors, volunteers, animators and sport organisers, as
well as the organisation of mass sporting and recreation events, sports
and recreation camps during school holidays, the issue of training and
methodology publications, and other promotional activity in the scope
of sport for children and youth.
The Fund for Sports and Recreation Activity for Pupils subsidises
systematic and universal extra curricular activities for pupils
organised by regional self-government units and by sports clubs acting
as associations as well as by other non-government organisations whose
statutory activity includes tasks in the scope of popularising physical
fitness and sport.
